It’s taken a few years for Creighton Farms to get its feet steady as a viable first-and-second home golf community in the heart of Virginia’s horse country.  But for the exiting homeowners and buyers who are taking a look, it seems like it may have been worth the wait.  Even Jack Nicklaus is building a house here.

November 15, 2011 - Leesburg Today – Creighton Farms’ Developers: ‘Here to Stay’

When developers David Southworth and Joseph Deitch bought Creighton Farms, the luxury golf course community near Aldie, in early 2009, they knew they had their work cut out for them. The gated rural subdivision-which was developed in conjunction with the Rtiz-Carlton Hotel Co. and opened for home sales in 2006-fell into financial woes in the height of the economic downturn. Much of the work on the property’s planned estates and facilities to enhance the 19-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course had stopped; the road, water and sewer infrastructure was incomplete and the maintenance building had just burnt to the ground.

October 12, 2011 - Chicago Tribune – Kirk Hanefeld Birdies Final Hole to Win Senior PGA Professional at Creighton Farms

Kirk Hanefeld won the Senior PGA Professional National Championship for the second time in four years, birdieing the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Ken Martin on Sunday. The 55-year-old Hanefeld, a PGA Life member from Acton, Mass., shot a 3-over 75 — the highest closing round by a winner in the showcase event for senior PGA pros — at Creighton Farms to finish at 6-under 282. Martin, from Wellington, Fla., had a two-stroke lead after 16 holes, but bogeyed the final two holes for a 74.

August 31, 2011 - Ashburn Patch – Charity Golf Tournament Comes to Creighton Farms

Sunbelt Senior Tour golf comes to Loudoun County next week with the annual Cannonball Invitational Pro-Am and spaces remain for amateurs to head out with the pros.  The tournament takes place Sept. 10-13 at The Club at Creighton Farms golf course and should offer plent of great action for enthusiasts.  This is the tournament’s second year.

August 8, 2011 - Viva Loudoun – Golf: Countdown to the Cannonball Invitational Begins; Senior’s Event Coming to Loudoun

The Club at Creighton Farms will once again host a major golf tournament marking another significant Loudoun County sporting event.  The Country’s second highest ranking senior’s tour - The Sunbelt Senior Tour – is making its return to Loudoun County with the 2011 Cannonball Invitational Pro-Am, running fro September 11 through the 13.
